Equestrian volunteers in the field

Had such a great day doing volunteer trail work up at Kyle Canyon! What an amazing, breathtaking sight and rewarding time. I now can't wait to be able to ride out there!

What a wonderful showing for our first “equestrian volunteers in the field” outing. This group (of 29) did so much more than USFS was expecting and we still got back in time to watch the ending of the first championship game. Thank you for coming out and confirming what we have been telling the community, “the equestrians not only will voice our needs, we will help to build and maintain the trails we ride”. For our future and our children’s future.

Holding Pen Loop on Wheeler

FINALLY! Yesterday I went on a great ride called "The Holding Pen Loop" on Wheeler Pass. It was a very easy, laid back ride. Scale was a 3 out of 10. Met some really nice folks who I hope I'm able to ride with again many more times in the future.

The day started out with me waking up at 6:30am, rolling out of bed, feeding the horse, ate breakfast myself, went back out in the freezing cold and tacked the mare up and let her continue eating. 8am rolled around and Kathy picked us up. Loaded up and off we went. Drove down and around the corner and up the mountain. Packed and got the horses out and ready, waited around for the rest of the group to show up. They showed up and off we went.

Pictures of course

BLM

I am happy to hear this.

BLM Concludes Tri-State Calico Wild Horse and Burro Gather

Winnemucca, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Winnemucca District concluded the Tri-State Calico Complex wild horse and burro gather on Monday, Jan. 9. The preliminary numbers for the animals gathered are 1,203 excess wild horses and 142 excess wild burros gathered from the HMAs, located northeast of Gerlach, Nev., and northwest of Winnemucca, Nev., within Humboldt and Washoe counties. Of those gathered, some stallions and mares were released back to the range after the mares received a 22-month fertility control vaccine treatment.

“The gather was a success and significant strides have been made on the public rangelands with the removal of excess wild horse and burros,” said District Manager Gene Seidlitz. “In turn, we now have a better balance with wildlife, livestock, and wild horse and burros. During this gather, the BLM provided a transparent and safe opportunity to the American public, to take time to observe and interact with the BLM staff to gain additional insight and information about the BLM’s management of wild horses.”

The gather started on Nov. 19. The gathered wild horses have been transported to the Palomino Valley Center near Reno, Nev., and the majority of wild burros were transported to Broken Arrow/Indian Lakes Facility at Fallon, Nev., where they will be prepared for the BLM adoption program. Un-adopted horses will be placed in long-term pastures where they will be humanly cared for and retain their “wild” status and protection under the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act. The BLM does not sell or send any horses to slaughter.

The Complex consisted of approximately 584,000 acres (public and private) but the gather area consisted of approximately 1,041,000 acres to encompass wild horses and burros residing outside of the HMAs. The Complex included the following HMAs: Black Rock Range East, Black Rock Range West, Calico Mountains, Granite Range, Warm Springs Canyon, and McGee Mountain.

Removing the excess wild horses and wild burros will help to achieve and maintain a thriving natural ecological balance and multiple-use relationship as required under the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act, and Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976, as well as help to achieve and maintain healthy wild horse and burro populations.

New Brunswick judge denies Cranbury horse auction house temporary license

Some of the horses at the Camelot horse farm in Cranbury. A New Brunswick judge has denied Camelot a temporary license to run the auction house.
CRANBURY — A Cranbury horse auction house will have to take its efforts to regain its sales license to the state Department of Agriculture and an administrative law judge.
A judge in New Brunswick today refused to order the department’s Division of Animal Health to give Camelot Sales Stables Inc. a temporary license to hold horse auctions until an administrative law judge can decide if the business should have a new license issued.
The auction house’s last yearly license expired in June. The state had issues with the house’s record-keeping, issuing it temporary licenses each month until Dec. 7, when Camelot was informed it could no longer hold auctions.
The state did not renew Camelot’s sales license because of a continuing lack of documentation that the horses sold in its auctions were given the necessary health tests prior to sale, according to the deputy attorney general representing the department at today’s hearing.
But, after Camelot took the agriculture department to court, the state agreed to issue Camelot a temporary license in late December to auction 34 horses left stranded and in danger of being sent to the slaughterhouse.
Through the auction and a rescue groups, all of the horses found new homes.
Superior Court Judge Frank Ciuffani told Lawrence Wohl, Camelot’s attorney, that he saw no "irreparable harm" to his client that would allow him to order the state to issue a temporary license.
Wohl argued the issue was one of record-keeping — that his client provided the state with the necessary documents, but some may not have been in the form the state required.

For the love to God, will someone please shut this asshole down? HE MADE OVER 800K this past year selling horses that he got for $10-50 a piece at New Holland BY JACKING their prices up through the roof and paying the "I'm going to ship them to slaughter if they aren't bought...wahhh wahhh wahhh" pity card. Also I truly believe that anyone who associates them self with this scam of an "Auction house" needs to have an investigation opened up on them too. YES this includes all the horse rescues who work with him every week, along with all the people who run Camelot Horse Weekly. THIS IS A HUGE FUCKING SCAM! Take your money to New Holland and get a truly in need horse for $10. Save a life the legit way and cut giving your damn money to a scam artist.

Awesome ride

Rode her around for about 2 hours today. Man oh man does this new saddle fit like a glove to her back. I can't tell you how insanely comfy it is also.

- Before heading out

- When we got back, I let her munch on some grass
